Robust Adaptive Neural Control of the Blood Glucose for Type 1 Diabetic Patients in Presence of Meals

Authors

Abstract:

In this paper, the blood glucose control for type 1 diabetic patients in the presence of model uncertainties and uncertain meals is considered. In order to present an efficient control approach, it is assumed that the dynamics describe the mechanism of the blood glucose regulation in type 1 diabetic patients are completely unknown. Hence, based on the universal approximation property of the radial basis neural network equipped with an adaptive algorithm, as well as using the minimal learning parameter approach, unknown model dynamics are approximated. Then, based on the feedback-linearization approach and robust adaptive compensation scheme, an appropriate control method is designed to regulate blood glucose in type 1 diabetic patients in the presence of a meal. By a Lyapunov based analysis, it is shown that the closed-loop system of blood glucose control is uniformly ultimately bounded and that the blood glucose of diabetic patients converges to a desired level. Finally, simulation results are shown to demonstrate the efficiency of the designed controller.

Chaotic dynamic analysis and nonlinear control of blood glucose regulation system in type 1 diabetic patients

In this paper, chaotic dynamic and nonlinear control in a glucose-insulin system in types I diabetic patients and a healthy person have been investigated. Chaotic analysis methods of the blood glucose system include Lyapunov exponent and power spectral density based on the time series derived from the clinical data. Wolf's algorithm is used to calculate the Lyapunov exponent, which positive val...

Using Sliding Mode Controller and Eligibility Traces for Controlling the Blood Glucose in Diabetic Patients at the Presence of Fault

Some people suffering from diabetes use insulin injection pumps to control the blood glucose level. Sometimes, the fault may occur in the sensor or actuator of these pumps. The main objective of this paper is controlling the blood glucose level at the desired level and fault-tolerant control of these injection pumps. To this end, the eligibility traces algorithm is combined with the sliding mod...

The Effects of 6 Isocaloric Meals Pattern on Blood Lipid Profile, Glucose, Hemoglobin A1c, Insulin and Malondialdehyde in Type 2 Diabetic Patients: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Background: The present clinical trial study aims at investigating the effect of daily energy intake in 6 isocaloric meals in comparison with the current meal pattern (3 meals and 2 small snacks per day) on type 2 diabetes risk markers in diabetes during 3-month period. Methods: Eighty four type 2 diabetes patients were randomly divided into 6 isocaloric meal diet or a balanced diet (3 meals an...

Adaptive neural control of nonlinear fractional order multi- agent systems in the presence of error constraintion

In this paper, the problem of fractional order multi-agent tracking control problem is considered. External disturbances, uncertainties, error constraints, transient response suitability and desirable response tracking problems are the challenges in this study. Because of these problems and challenges, an adaptive control and neural estimator approaches are used in this study. In the first part...
